FuboTV is an American streaming television service founded on January 1, 2015 by David Gandler, Alberto Horihuela and Sung Ho Choi and headquartered in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Originally launched as a soccer-only platform, it has evolved into a virtual multichannel video programming distributor offering live sports, news and entertainment channels to audiences in the United States, Canada and Spain. As of early 2025 FuboTV reported approximately two million global paying subscribers, with about 1.7 million in North America. On January 6, 2025, the Walt Disney Company announced plans to acquire a seventy-percent majority stake in FuboTV and merge it with Hulu’s live TV service under the Fubo name. Following that announcement, FuboTV settled its antitrust litigation with Disney, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery regarding the Venu Sports venture, clearing the way for the combined streaming entity. Industry analysts predict the merged service will rank as the second-largest live pay-TV streaming provider in North America behind YouTube TV, offering a compelling option for cord-cutters and sports enthusiasts.
